2025 has been an incredible year for NITE Maverick, Will Copestake. Traversing the west coast of Chile before returning to Scotland. Travelling through the Patagonian fjords, occasionally dropping kayaks in the water along the way reliving some fond memories of longer kayak expeditions explored in the area.
A near perfect weather window enabled a midnight raid on Cape Wrath. Setting off onto the water at 8pm, paddling into the night arriving at Kervaig bay to camp a few kilometres from the lighthouse at almost 1am.
"To sit amongst the noise of the birds in the dark, lights off and chasing the silhouettes ahead, the brightest light was the tritium illumination on my ALPHA watch." said Will. | | Autumn and the latter end of 2025 has rekindled Will's love in what was his original outdoor passion, whitewater kayaking.
Will commented, "This is a sport I have let go over the last few years and to rediscover pushing water at the edge of my comfort zone has been somewhat addictive. Pursuing rivers around the north of Scotland from grade 3 up to 5 has been quite the adventure which I look forward to pushing harder over the wetter winter months. The NITE ALPHA has been on my wrist throughout and takes the impact of Scottish river rocks and depths beneath big falls with ease."
Ahead, November promises colder climes once more. Will returns to Antarctica, not as a kayak guide but as an ornithologist. Enjoying the challenge in becoming an expert on Antarctic and sub-Antarctic sea birds. | | NITE Watches Unit 14 Silver Business Park, Airfield Way, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 3TA United Kingdom | | | | |
