Stage 9 took Race Crew from Tongyeong, South Korea, across the North Pacific Ocean to Seattle, USA. Leaving the shelter of Korea’s southern coastline, the fleet quickly headed into one of the most remote and demanding stretches of the circumnavigation.

As one of the longest stages of the race, this ocean crossing - known as the big one - tested endurance, resilience and teamwork. Crews experienced powerful low-pressure systems, heavy seas and cold conditions as they raced east towards North America, navigating constantly evolving weather patterns across the vast Pacific.
The arrival into Seattle marks a major milestone for most, as crew will have completed this bucket list ocean crossing.
