Nikola Čorbová didn't mean to make history, but in 17 hours, she became the first woman to finish the Himalayan XTRI and the first woman to win any XTRI event.
Before taking part in the Pokhara, Nepal-based event, Čorbová says she didn't realize that a woman had not yet won any XTRI event, so becoming first never crossed her mind. Instead, "my first goal was simply to get to Nepal and get to the 4,000-meter mark," she says in a conversation with Triathlete. She says she just really wanted to see this part of the world and take part in an extreme triathlon there: "That was my dream."
As a finisher of Himalayan XTRI, Čorbová has earned entry into The Norseman XTRI, the original XTRI event that now serves as a sort of world championship for the most extreme iteration of multisport. She'll race that in 2026. For the rest of the 2025 season, she'll be tackling shorter triathlons. | | Nikola Čorbová didn't mean to make history, but in 17 hours, she became the first woman to finish the Himalayan XTRI and the first woman to win any XTRI event.
