For the best part of a year, we've been working with local media company, Mass Motion, on something pretty special... We've got a lot to say about everything to do with what we do and why, how and where it all happens. We're really excited to be getting this out into the world. Over the next two weeks we will be releasing the rest of this six-part series over on our Instagram, Youtube channel and via the blog on the website. It's been a journey, and shoe horning 50 years of why, how and where into 20 odd minutes of film, has been a real challenge. But, with the help of the Mass Motion team, by some stroke of luck (or was it their genius?), we've done it! Come on the journey with us over the next two weeks. It's a cracker. THE T-SHIRT PARODY & GIVEAWAY The other day we realised that it's very possible we are the second largest welted footwear producer in the country... how, in god's name could that be the case? Imagine, there is one factory left. Making something like 500,000 or even up to 750,000 pairs a year. And then there's fresh air, a lot of fresh air, and then there's us. Making every year what the next lot make by lunchtime every day... Don't get us wrong, they're probably the most important part of the footwear industry in Australia; they employ a lot of dedicated folks. But we can't help but think about all that fresh air that once was occupied by a myriad of others. So. We went ahead and did this... We think we need to have a bit of fun with it. If we don't, we might just realise how far the industry has fallen in the past 40 years. For those of you playing at home, R.D WOOTTEN is Jess' dad, Ross David Wootten. He started this bootmaking caper in our family and was a lovely chap and we think he'd have gotten a laugh out of this. At the very least, it made us giggle. LOST TRADES FAIR 2025 - BENDIGO The Lost Trades Fair will be on in Bendigo again this year but taking place over THREE days. Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th and Monday 10th March 2025 - The Labour Day Long Weekend in Victoria. To book your tickets click here. Jess will be doing what he does best, talking and demonstrating bootmaking. He'll even be up on the big stage doing a presentation on one of the days.
