Introducing WonderGlass at Living Edge.

Crafted exclusively for Living Edge, we welcome an installation showcasing bespoke glassworks from the masterminds of WonderGlass.

In the context of design theory and glass sculpturing WonderGlass makes light its object, capturing light like never before and shaping it as a basic element. Pairing traditional glassblowing and craftsmanship with contemporary design, WonderGlass provides tailor-made solutions to the worlds of architecture, art and design.

The artisans behind the brand aim to bring individuals into a surreal and dreamlike atmosphere
working with renowned artists including Nao Tamura, Zaha Hadid, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Nendo and more to create a seamless landscape of lighting, subtle colours and visual elements capturing one's imagination.

Installation open to the public March 15th to 30th
74 Huntley st. Alexandria

Welcome To The WonderGlass DNA.

Founded in 2013, Christian and Maurizio Mussati built their brand through bespoke glass lighting and installations handcrafted in Murano. Now working with their own team of WonderLab artisans in the Venetian region and collaborating with leading names in design such as Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Nao Tamura, Nendo and WOHA architects - WonderGlass offers those with discerning taste the opportunity to incorporate artisanal creations into a life of any scale.

Flow[T] by Nao Tamura

The reflections of the Venetian cityscape glistening on the evening water hints at an imaginary city below the moving surface. There is a border between the world under and the land above. In the city of Venice, where the real world and fantasy coexists, this chandelier is the embodiment of the beauty of dual worlds.
Flow[T] is a contemporary chandelier inspired by the colours of the Venetian lagoon and customised to the desires of each owner. Each piece enjoys its own shape, and in multiples, they create a sculptural display of lighting.

Alcova by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

Alcova, is a collection of handcrafted geometric objects that when grouped create intimate landscapes. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec describe the collection as follows: "The Alcova collection is a series of coloured cast glass geometrical shapes that are organically composed. We approached this project in a brutal and primary way, working with the thickness of the material and letting the process guide us, seeking to preserve all the magic of the ballet of molten glass manipulated by master glassmakers."

Tailor Made

Since developing their own WonderLab team of artisans WonderGlass is able to offer an array of glass solutions - drawing from the tradition of Venetian craftsman to create masterpieces by using glass blowing or cast glass techniques to create unique masterpieces, through combining our creativity and expertise with your imagination to see what we can achieve together.

Nasse by Marco Zito and BTM

The Venetian lagoon, where the tradition of fishing with nets is still practiced, is a microcosm made up of lights and colours that define the landscape in various different environmental situations, most particularly, during the morning, in high summer, the depths of winter, engulfed in fog and at sunset.

Taking these conditions as inspiration, Marco Zito and BTM designed Nasse, a collection of large luminous objects that seem to emerge from the water. Looking to evoke the energy of a lagoon, the pieces are created out of intricately shaped hand-blown glass, whilst the unconventional use of fishing nets emphasise the play of light within the pieces.

Sleeve by John Pawson

From the outset Pawson's work has focused on ways of approaching fundamental problems of space, proportion, light and materials. Pawson's design Sleeve sets one hand-blown glass cylinder within another, the outer cylinder flaring into a refined disc lip at its lower edge. The lamp casts light downwards, but its clear body also glows along its entire length.

2018 Milan Design Week

Invisible Cities by artistic duo J&PEG, was a highlight of Kosmos, the conceptual installation brought to life by WonderGlass for Salone del Mobile 2018. A surreal stop-motion tale of a glass ball lost in a magical world that both celebrates the utopian vision of the city and the role of glass within architecture and urban environments. For Milan Design Week, guests were invited into a shimmering universe of glass featuring (then) new collections Alcova from Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and Fornasetti as well as Hexigon, WonderLab's collaborations with Dan Yeffet and studiopluz.

2019 Melt by Nendo

In January 2019 WonderGlass gave the world a preview of Melt. Designed by Nendo founder Oki Sato, WonderGlass showcased a chair from the collection designed an inverted arched base topped with a contrasting, flat pane of glass backed with a larger rectangle of glass. The entire collection will be comprised of a dozen pieces of furniture all formed by gravity over a pipe or mould. Melt was first previewed in Cologne ahead of an exciting announcement for Salone del Mobile in April 2019.
