Limited Edition Bags, Fathers Day and Laces

LIMITED EDITION BAGS Limited Edition Weekender in Tan   We've been working hard on sourcing full grain bag and boot leathers from a tannery right here in Victoria. If you've visited the shop lately, or kept an eye on our website or Instagram, you will have encountered this new range of tans and browns that we're using for our boots. They are the saddle tan, whisky, cocoa and chocolate brown. We feel it's important to support local industry and farming, whilst also reducing the mileage on our materials. As we're celebrating the new leather colour collection, we have some hides left over from the previous range. Instead of leaving the hides sit idle on the shelf, we would much rather see them made into bags and taken out into the world. So we're opening up a fresh Limited Edition run of bags in four colourways: Acorn, Tan, Dark Brown and Cognac. From these colours, you'll be able to select from a range of travel/work bags: Weekender Overnighter Duffle Mini Duffle Briefcase Double Gusset 13" or 15" However please bear in mind, there is a very limited number of bags available in the Acorn, Tan and Dark Brown (2-3 at most). So it will be first in best dressed. These bags would normally be $750 as part of our Heritage range, but for the Limited Edition run they will all be $600. The Cognac colour is actually our hero bag leather from the local tannery. This is still part of our core range and typically the only colour we have previously offered our Limited Edition run in. So we've thrown it in because it's so popular and hopefully more of you have beautiful Cognac bags in your life in the not-too-distant future. Orders will be open for two weeks, closing on the 3rd August. Then we will make everything up as a batch and the intention is to have them ready for delivery or collection before Father's Day, September 3rd. For a brief overview on the leathers available in the Limited Edition Bag offer, take a gander below. TAN LEATHER This Tan is a full grain bovine leather tanned locally at 2.4mm thickness. It has a smooth surface finish and buttery feel. The colour is very uniform, and ideal for cutting large panels for bags. The hides have gone through dual veg and chrome tanning processes and are rich in oils and will stay supple over time. The Tan is a bit nuttier brown in colour than the Acorn. ACORN LEATHER Acorn is a buffed grain bovine leather at 2.2mm thickness from New Zealand. It has slightly more warm orange tones than the Tan. These hides are chrome tanned and have a buffed grain, which creates a velvet like surface feel. Over time, this leather will soften, and mark and darken as it ages, rather than scuffing and losing its colour. To shop the Limited Edition Acorn Bags on offer click here. Please note there is only enough leather to make 2 bags all up. DARK BROWN LEATHER Dark brown is a veg-tanned bovine about 2mm thick with a pearlescent shine. It's dark enough to be a suitable alternative to black, with a rich cocoa palette. These hides are sourced from Italy and are slightly finer than our Australian bovines. They're a stiff leather to begin with, hold the structure of a bag well, and soften up over time. Purely veg tanned leathers will mark and darken with age and wear. However, being a super dark brown, these marks will be less visible than what would show on lighter tans. To shop the Limited Edition Dark Brown Bags on offer click here. Please note there is only enough leather to make 3 bags all up. COGNAC LEATHER Cognac is our hero bag leather colour from the Victorian tannery. At 2.4mm thickness, this is a full grain leather dyed through at tanning and oiled for moisture retention. It has the same smooth and buttery surface feel to the Tan. Cognac is the perfect shade if you're after something to go with everything. It's versatile enough to suit greys, as well as blues, warm reds, and of course, takes well to the company of light tans. With 21 colours of laces and solid raw brass aglets hand-set by us, we have loved seeing customer's responses to how something as simple as a different colour lace can change the look of their Gordon boots completely. If you've been keeping an eye on our website you'll also notice we have gone full steam ahead with our waxed cotton laces. The 2mm round waxed cotton laces are available in 11 colours to suit dress shoes and boots, with raw brass aglets set in house. The 6mm flat waxed cotton version is available in 5 colours to suit boots and casual shoes. The laces range in lengths from 75cm to 150cm. Some examples are pictured below.
