ORGATEC 2018: visionary concepts for a new work culture

What sort of environment will the work culture of the future need? How can freedom and structure be given equal space? With a central theme of "culture@work" ORGATEC 2018 presented visionary concepts for the whole world of work.

Through its various themes, ORGATEC 2018 shone a light on the interplay between working environments and work culture – and showcased forward-thinking ideas for new workplace design.
This year, Living Edge was pleased to have the following brands displaying innovative new designs and their own interpretations of culture@work.

Muuto | Prooff | Walter Knoll | Extremis | Waldmann

Walter Knoll's sculpture for visionaries.

For more than 150 years, Walter Knoll has been creating quality, timeless furniture. Masterly craftsmanship, fine materials and long-lasting design are the values which set the brand apart.

Walter Knoll believes our working world is changing. While offices used to resemble dreary cells, spaces for the strict eight-hour workday, a new approach is now taking over from the focus on functionality: "It is the situation – with a mix of furniture and zones – that is relevant now," says Markus Benz, CEO of Walter Knoll. "Today a manager's chief task is communication and Walter Knoll is dedicated to fostering this communication."

Extremis' modern workplace oasis

Extremis believes the new workplace is an oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city centre. With initiatives like urban farming and bicycle couriers, we are evolving towards an alternative interpretation of urbanisation. Likewise, companies in these cities are becoming highly committed to the satisfactions and health of their employees.

Extremis' Tools For Togetherness have a great impact on the work place. They are designed to bring people together wherever they are. Meeting, taking a break, focusing, chatting, brainstorming, lunching, celebrating success... all the way to after-work relaxation. Every piece of furniture is designed to eliminate barriers and optimize communication between employees, to stimulate creativity and 'casual collisions'.

the future of design.

"Work spaces and learning spaces are increasingly facing very similar challenges and requirements, so much so that new office developments are often referred to as business campuses. These similarities are perhaps not surprising however, as learning has in fact become an integral part of our everyday working lives."
