We're on ABC's Restoration Australia | In Stock of the Gordon Original Boot

KEEP A LOOK OUT - WE'RE ON THE ABC

About three and a half years ago, we embarked on a pretty epic journey to restore and extend our wee Miners Cottage in country Victoria. The whole process, albeit a rather rollicking, fun version of events, was filmed for the ABC's Restoration Australia: Season 5 Episode 4 "Miners Cottage".

We've been blown away with the response thus far. It truly was a community effort, a journey and an experience we will look back on with fondness for years to come.

WE FINALLY HAVE STOCK OF OUR GORDON BOOT ORIGINALS

We've been thinking about having a 'stock' line of Ready To Wear boots for years now. Something we can have available off-the-shelf for customers who need boots sooner than our Made-To-Order service can provide.

The Gordon Boot Original was our answer. These boots differ to our Heritage service as they're only available in the one configuration.

The Gordon Original comes in the Saddle Tan colour (tanned locally in Geelong) with a McKay Welt sole construction and locally made rubber sole. As they're standard sizes (from 8AU to 11.5AU), we can also offer these as an exchangeable item. Which means, if you're unable to make it into one of our stores to try stuff on, we can work with you to determine the best size from measurements and if you need to go up or down a half size we can exchange them for you (of course there are terms and conditions around exchanges). We're hoping that this offers some of you the opportunity to wear our boots that would otherwise have found them inaccessible.

Please note, we've just finished a batch of these, so currently have stock of all sizes, but they are selling reasonably quickly (we've already sold 30% of the stock). We will try to maintain stock levels but we are a small team making everything from scratch and in some instances, if a size runs out, there may be a delay in getting them back in stock.

PRODUCT PROVENANCE - LOCALLY SOURCED MATERIALS

We endeavour to use as many locally sourced and produced materials as we can in an effort to minimise our environmental impact and support local industry.

The Gordon Originals use leather sourced from AusTanners in Geelong for the upper, lining and insole. They employ world-leading effluent treatment systems in their production to ensure minimal negative environmental impacts. The outsoles, heels and heel stacks are produced in Adelaide, and are made from a super durable nitrile rubber compound.

We're proud to be able to produce these boots locally from local materials, something that is not only supporting our small team, but also an entire supply chain, right back to the farmer as the poster above depicts.

PATINA

The Saddle Tan leather develops a nutty brown character as it ages and patinas. Being a crust leather, it will age gracefully and each pair, depending on wear conditions and what care is applied to them, will develop their own unique character.

This pair that Jess is wearing have seen aproximately 180 days of wear, in all conditions: in the workshop, hiking, walking the dog and everything in-between. You can see how the leather upper and sole have darkened and even taken on some of the indigo dye from his jeans.
