Early season tips from Julia Mancuso...
From Medalist to Mom Almost three years ago, Julia Mancuso skied the final run of her illustrious 18-year career skiing for the U.S. Ski Team on the FIS World Cup circuit and in the 2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014 Winter Olympics. Over this time Mancuso found herself on 36 World Cup podiums, took home five FIS World Championship medals and collected four pieces of Olympic hardware; including a gold medal in Giant Slalom from Turin in 2006. Fast-forward to today, and you can find Julia with her husband and their 1 year old son on a beach in Maui and when there's snow to enjoy they are in Mancuso's hometown of Olympic Valley, CA. Now that Julia's no longer bound to the intense travel schedule that active World Cup racers are, we caught up with her to get some tips on how to ensure your family doesn't forget the essentials on your next trip to the mountains. | | Spyder: We're jealous you're in Hawaii! What have you been up to over the last couple months? Julia Mancuso: Getting ready for ski season! I used to workout full time and dedicate my life to being in shape for ski season! That has changed a bit, and now having a kid, I struggle to find the time to get in shape, but I know the importance of it! So I have made it a priority to do the best I can to move my body everyday! I also love to bike, and think it's a great way to stay fit for skiing. Personally I love the Peloton and do the 20 minute HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) rides. S: So, since you're no longer tearing it up on the FIS World Cup circuit, what do your ski seasons traditionally like now? JM: Since I retired my family has made a huge effort to go on a ski trip every year. It's so nice because it takes me back to what skiing really is for me, it's about togetherness and spending time in nature. Basically combining my two loves. My perspective on skiing has changed so much. It used to be a selfish sport, trying to go as fast as possible and train hard to improve [my time] and everything, and it was so planned. Now it's about having fun, making memories and enjoying my time in the mountains. I love it so much. I mean I always loved skiing so much, but I enjoy the relaxed vibe of it even better now. | | Julia's Go-To Layers: - Women's Momentum Baselayer Pant - Women's Savona Zip - Women's Classic Crew - Women's Boulder Fleece -Women's Captivate Jacket -Women's Amour Pant -Women's Twisty Hat | | | | | | | Please Unsubscribe if you do not want us to contact you any more with information about our goods and services.
