Four brands making a big statement in Milan.

Your Milan update!

Che bello!
A few days in to Salone and it's the bold and colourful brands that have got the team at Living Edge talking. Breaking away from the minimalist, monochrome aesthetic we see so much, these brands are experimental, creative and aren't afraid to be more than a little daring.

They're artistic and unique – and they've brought their boundary-breaking attitudes to Salone del Mobile 2019. Take pop art-inspired icon Gufram, who introduced its kitsch collaboration with coffee aficionado Lavazza – accompanied by a late-night DJ set reminiscent of a '90s Italian discoteca. Or Brionvega, who celebrated 100 years of legendary radiofonografo designer Achille Castiglioni, and the smallest piece famed Spanish architect Gaudí ever made, amongst the works presented by BD Art Editions.

Satisfy your inner artista and discover the best of the bold and the beautiful from Salone below.

Ciao!

GUFRAM For 2019 Salone Del Mobile, GUFRAM – easily the world's cheekiest studio – returned to Milan to once again ensure that the design world doesn't take itself too seriously. Pairing up with world-renowned coffee experts, Lavazza, for an immersive installation celebrating theatricality, happiness and the spirit of sharing the world's most popular beverage with your loved ones, GUFRAM X Lavazza unveiled the Desea Golden Touch. In the brand's own words,

"Desea Golden Touch features a vibrant golden livery that enriches the sophisticated contemporary aesthetic of Lavazza's latest product, as well as celebrating the coffee experience." The Desea Golden Touch will remain front of mind for many of Milan's visitors this year, and will undoubtedly remain one of posterity's key turning-points in a new hospitality culture that treasures the 'point of arrival' moment.

BD BARCELONA - Since its origins in the 1970's, BD has always been an atypical company. Its founders have oriented BD's production from the very start by cultivating beauty, in some cases above their function. Accompanied with artisanal processes instead of mass production, new products always have more proximity to art than industrial design, characterised by superior quality, short-series productions (and on occasion limited editions), and unique

pieces due to crafted manufacturing. For this year's Salone presentation, the brand has unveiled 10 new creations. BD again astounds us all, introducing new exclusive BD art designs including the Cristello, the last design by the late Maestro Alessandro Mendini. New designs have also been welcomed from designers with accentuated artistic profiles like Jaime Hayon, Färg & Blanche and Stephen Burks.

La Chance's
Louise Breguet & Jean-Baptiste Souletie

La Chance was born from the will of Louise & Jean-Baptiste to express their vision of French design. La Chance gives a contemporary interpretation of the ornamental and decorative French furniture tradition rooted in the Art Deco period. The creations share a sophisticated, rich and singular design based on noble materials.

LA CHANCE - Releasing three major products at the Salone this year, La Chance showcased its exquisite comprehension of contemporary forms and understated elegance. Block Lounge by Jonas Lutz combines all the sophistication of Corbusier-esque rigour with the singular lightness of Brutalist expression. Geometric to an extreme degree, the Lounge is already being recognised as one of Salone's most versatile objects – sure to prove equally at home in the commercial or domestic interior.

Meanwhile, both Planet Chair by Jean-Baptiste Souletie and the Zag Hooks by Studio Bling embrace more lackadaisical, free-flowing formal arrangements. For Planet Chair, the heavens provided all the inspiration that Souletie needed: smooth elliptical vital lines, an essential form of balance and proportion, and a featherweight silhouette of only six kilograms to represent the solar system's most elegant gaseous body.

BRIONVEGA- At this year's Salone, the internationally recognised Italian electronics company, Brionvega, took the opportunity to pay tribute and celebrate the grand masters of Italian design - with one in particular. When it came to transforming everyday objects into timeless beautiful designs, there is no other name that comes to mind before the formidable Italian designer Achille Castiglioni. His creations, which turn domestic objects into what many perceive to be works of art,

have found permanent residence in art collections globally, including MoMA New York, the V&A in London and the Triennale in Milan. He is considered one of Italy's most formidable design masters, Earier this year, to celebrate the centenary of Achille Castiglione's birth, Brionvega proudly re-produced a limited run of 100 handcrafted, individually numbered Radiofonografo's, as a tribute to the famed designer. Available exclusively through Living Edge.
