Spyder has been designing some of the best race suits in the world since 1978. Some might even say these suits are too fast. In 1994, the Spyder Speed Wyre technology was born and was ultimately banned by FIS in 1997.

The extensive speed suit testing done by FIS ensures competition is fair across the board. The 30mL test, performed by FIS at competitions, is to ensure that the wind resistance of the suit fabric complies with their standard. The fabric is initially tested by Spyder to make sure that it allows a minimum of 30 Litres per m2/second porosity to conform with the FIS rule book.
|
Once the suits are constructed they are tested at random multiple times in different locations throughout the suit to confirm porosity is accurate. The FIS label is then printed on the left calf on each suit prior to use in any FIS sanctioned event.
