Producing furniture by the likes of Antoni Gaudí and Salvador Dali, BD Barcelona is not for the faint of heart. The prestigious Spanish brand collaborates with some of the world's most avant-garde designers to create conceptual furniture and objects that blur the boundaries of art and design.
Jaime Hayon is one of the most intriguing figures in contemporary design, known for his playful, precision-crafted furniture, lighting and sculptural pieces. His BD Barcelona collections began in 2006 and have continued to grow with side tables, credenzas, chairs, vases and more.
Brazilian-born brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana are multidisciplinary designers whose work incorporates ideas of transformation and reinvention. Integrating artisanal and industrial production, they beautify common materials with colours, mixtures and creative chaos.
Aquario Cabinet
As its name suggests, Aquario Cabinet is inspired by the colours and form of an aquarium. It combines warm and cold materials – a trademark of the Campana brothers – with a wood frame and coloured-glass interior.
Cristian Zuzunaga's work explores the relationship between the virtual world and real world. Originally a biology student and fascinated by the microscope, Zuzunaga breaks down patterns and images into their infinitesimal components, and uses colour to evoke emotions and encourage interactions.
Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien established their London-based design studio Doshi Levien in 2000. Making their own rules, their work celebrates the hybrid and explores the coming together of cultures, technology, story telling, industrial design and fine craftsmanship.
